Last July 22, 2013 Monday, at Manila, Philippines -- his Excellency President Benigno Aquino III delivered his fourth State Of Nation Address (SONA) in Congress to address the achievement and improvement to people.
Almost four years since PNOY turnover the Arroyo's Administration and his SONA this year intells if there's an improvement or not to this leadership. This year's SONA were focused on the achievements of the government on his term such as approval of the Sin Tax Reform Law and “Responsible Parenthood Law” (RH Law), reforms in Education System(K-12), Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), increase in number of TESDA graduates, increase in Philhealth enrolles from 62% to 81% and improved benefits, allocation of P6.2 billion for flood control in Metro Manila, completion of 9,377 housing units for Typhoon Sendong victims, 63% reduction in number of private armed groups, 21.4 increase in foreign tourist arrivals in 2012 and 7.8% GDP (Gross Domestic Product) growth during the first quarter of 2013. From that achievement we are proud to say that we are slowly conquering the development that we are dreaming of many years ago, not only that, the Philippines is also recognized as growing economy internationally in some prestigious media and magazines.
"We believe that it is time to amend the SSS Pension Scheme. We must establish measures that remedy the outflow of funds. If we add 0.6 percent to the contribution rate, it will immediately deduct P141 billion from the unfunded liability," Aquino said.
Pnoy said the need to reform pension scheme is necessary to avoid depletion of SSS funds in the next 28 years. He also explains that fare hikes in MRT and LRT will be implemented. The government subsidizes each passenger's fare by as much as P45 and said to be unfair to residents from Visayas and Mindanao who never set foot on the trains but fund the train operations. With this, I can truely say that PNOY gives the fairness to his people. His thinking on making decission is a best aspect he have as being the country's president.
According to the SONA of PNOY that there's a research conducted by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, it is said to the research that compared with those who only finished the elementary level, the income of high school graduates is 40 percent higher. So PNOY said that with that Is it not right that we maximize the help we give these families, so that our young beneficiaries can finish high school, thereby helping them make the most out of the benefits of this program. That is why next year, families with children up to 18 years old will be included in this program so that their children will be able to finish high school. With this, I can now see a better future for those young ones who can't afford to go to school and educate themeselves. If this project of PNOY will continue as his administration go by there will be a better improvement on our country's education rate.
Moreover, eventhough there's now an improvement to our country since PNOY's administration but still there's so much problems and issues that needs a better solution just like -- unemployment rate. Inspite of the gross domestic product (GDP) growth for 2012 and various economic reform programs of Aquino's government for his three years in the Palace, Philippines is still has the worst unemployment rate in Asia. More than 11 million Filipinos are jobless according to SWS and IBON Foundation survey results on the first quarter of 2013. We are proud that we have a greater education rate especially now that our president is implementing a project that will help those intelligent individuals to enhanced their knowledge and knowings. But come to think of it, we have a great number of educated ones but where are they? Why they are not employed? Why we are having a least percentage of employment rate? There's just some questions that I have in my mind and I know you also have. I hope PNOY will truely come up unto a solution for this because for his almost four years of administering the country until now, there's no improvement unto this issue.
Addition to that, in general, PNOY's SONA this year really highlights unto these aspects -- economy, jobs, asset reform, education, sports, government and ethics, health and environment, tourism, justice, urban poor, issues in Mindanao, foreign affairs and national security.
In such consideration that our President emphasizes triumphs, plan, and promises but upon hearing folks, consequently it will bare in my minds the Happiness and the Doubts. Happiness for which every one of us wished and hoped for a better improvement, enhancement and development in our country's status. Base from what I am seeing today we are taking it slowly but surely. But I am in Doubt for if we try to analyze on our President's address, it is more on plans and promises for the country. We never know if that plan will be fulfilled and promises to be done. As what the saying says; "Promises are meant to be broken" but I'm hoping it will not. Furthermore, I guess PNOY has still proven his capacity and ability on being a good leader because he brings a little sense of progress to our beloved country. Thus, looking back to our country's progression, indeed, it was better for now yet we may look for the other way around to a fact that our President is just only adressing on country's better side but did'nt include those unbetter side. With that, its somehow hiding its negative one from the positive one.
To end this, I really salute and admire Mr. Benigno Aquino III, our president for aiming country's development and giving his full dedication on administering the country's goverment. I am very hopeful that he really continue his good doings as what his quote says; "Kayo ang Boss ko. Kaya't walang dahilan para di ako makinig sa mga utos niyo." With that quote of him, hopefully he can really hear our voice shouting for our country better improvement. And lastly, to his other quote; "Sa Daang matuwid", I am in great hope that we really are in a 'right path' but we have diffirent views. If I will ask you, what will be your answer? Are we really taking unto the right path or not?

DeleteOur president is really doing his best to make our country more progressive but I know it is not easy for Phil. to grow if there's a corrupt member of the government. I hope they will change and just do good for our country.
